Formatting a drive is easy. If you have windows already installed on a computer you can format a hard drive by right clicking on it's icon in the Computer system folder and choosing format. A small window pops up and it's kinda self explanatory once opened.
If you want to do something more advanced than formatting a drive to NTFS then you can download a partition editor. If you have a computer that died from a virus attack and that is why you need to format this drive then all you need to do is download a bootable partition editor such as Gparted or MiniTool bootable partition wizard (Home edition is free but won't work on a hard drive with a server OS) and burn it to a cd/dvd, then boot off it. You could also try making a bootable USB flash drive instead of burning a cd/dvd.
