New products have been added that are cheaper. If you didn't notice there are 2 955's right now, one is C2 stepping, and one is C3 stepping. The C3 stepping is currently cheaper than the C2. That's the same with the 945, they just released the C3 stepping, and they still have C2 in stock. Same thing occurred a while back with the 965. The new C3 945 is cheaper than the C3 955.

But the two 945s mentioned in this thread both have 6mb L3 and both are 95W.
 


Typically the difference between different stepping is that newer step produces a little bit less heat than than the older step at same speed. Which for overclocking, is a good thing as it means you can overclock a little higher than the last stepping while producing the same high heat.

Also newer stepping means that some bugs that where discovered in the old stepping are removed.

Overall if your not overclocking or highly picky of temps, get whats ever cheaper of the 2 stepping.
