Cant type in the password to get started - unlock laptop. Any answers??
My name is Prashant and I work for the Social Media and Community Team at Dell. It appears to me that you are having issues with Windows User Password and it’s not accepting the password you are typing in. You can follow the link http:// http://bit.ly/1sC9Ap and try the steps provided here to reset Windows Xp password. In case if you are getting any other prompt for password please check if it’s a BIOS password or Hard Drive password that its asking for. In case if it’s an issue with BIOS/Hard Drive password, please update the exact error message here. If you need further help please post here so that we can get back to you with answers.
Do you have a valid administrator account? If so, you can unlock Windows password with Windows built-in Administrator account.
Here’s how this admin unlocks forgotten Windows password:
Start your computer and wait for the Windows Login or Welcome Screen. Once it shows, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete twice and then type Administrator in the pop-up username box, but leave the password column blank. Next you could successfully log onto system. The following steps for resetting the forgotten password are quite easy. You can make it from “Start->Control Panel->Users Accounts”.
