I am making a new core i7 rig , allready in a hurry i got 2 gts-250 from xfx 512 mb models , though the rig will be used for gaming but i am on a very tight budget i cant return them now hence to late for that .

but i was thinking if i add another gts-250 to it will tri sli be better then 2 - 4870 in crossfire . or will they compare to a gtx-275 / gtx-285.

so guys please dont tell me to go for another card as i cant , have to stick with the 512 mb models i got , gts-250 , would appreciate if some one who has been using them can guide me as to what scores do they give in games , 3d mark 06 scores , vantage scores etc .

as i said i would be runing them on my core i7 rig .

Don't tell you to go for another card but you want to get another GTS 250 for tri sli?

How big is your monitor that it will benefit from tri sli? I think you've got a case of overcustomizing your PC. Tri sli is usually a bad idea with low end videcards. mid range videocards, and high end videocards. Tri sli is only good for bragging rights on high benchmark scores and has nothing to do with being able to play the latest games at enjoyable framerates.

In some tests, tri sli actually decrease framerates.

yeah well lets put it this way , i wana brag about it , show off acutally , anyway as i said before can 2 gts-250 perform at par with 2 - 4850 or 2 4870 .

which nvidia card in sli can compare with 2-4870 1gb cards from ati . gtx-260 is expensice for me right now and adding 2 would be a little hard now as i also have to
get the mobo and cpu for the i7 .

1 250 GTS = 9800 GTX+

2 x's 9800 GTX should be a around a 9800 GX2

9800 GX2 should be around a 285 GTX

So adding a third 250 GTX will not give you the power of 2 4870s, but should be between 1 4870 and 2 4870s. I highly doubt it will be better, especially since tri isn't the most stable solution (lets not speak about Quad).

This is my opinion from results I've seen
