I wonder how would an Nvidia 5700 work without it's cooler. If a computer has no monitor attached, will the GPU heat at all?

I won't connect a monitor to it as the computer will stay in a closet and I'll connect to it remotely. The fan is just too noisy for that closet :)

No cooler => it will fry itself. You could look into fanless coolers, but be sure they fit the hole configuration. Even at complete idle, cards draw power. That power has to go somewhere.

remotely? yes... Windows remote desktop
odd? why? It will be used as a server. Apache, mysql, cvs, and what not....

It's just a simple question: Will the 5700 heat without a cooler if no monitor is attached to it?
Actually I don't mind the cooler ;) just it's fan...

I was thinking about the same thing, I'll try that tomorrow.

Final solution: used the 5700 until the whole setup was done, checked the connection, firewall permissions, etc, and then removed the GPU. Everything works fine. Now I just need a silent fans for the PS and here goes my server...
