Best graphics card for 20 inch... 1600 x 900
ive narrowed it down to the following

GTX 260 SLI (or single if this is overkill), ATI5770 (or single if this is overkill) AND ATI 5850

processor = amd 965 BE
RAM = 4GB
Mobo = GA - MA790XT

You may want to invest your money in a better monitor. I couldn't imagine spending the extra money on a 965 to skimp on everything else. :p Get the 5850 and spend money on a monitor with at least 1680x1050 (preferably 1920x1080). ;) You can get a good 1080p monitor for around $160.

With CrossFire/SLi:

Performance wise... GTX 260 SLi > HD 5770 CrossFire > HD 5850
Cost wise... HD 5850 < HD 5770 CrossFire < GTX 260 SLi

With single cards:

Performance wise... HD 5850 > GTX 260 > HD 5770
Cost wise... HD 5770 < GTX 260 < HD 5850

Obviously you're getting what you pay for. It's important to note the HD 5850 and HD 5770 CrossFire support DirectX 11 and will use less power/output less heat. If you're sticking with that monitor, CrossFire/SLi is overkill at that resolution.

so if ive got this right........ 1 ati 5770 or gtx 260 is enough for a 1600 x 900

and for a 5850 i would need a monitor like this one (22 inch 1900 x 1080)

One HD 5770 or GTX 260 is enough for your current resolution. You can buy a new monitor with a higher resolution if you feel you need it -- I was just suggesting it in the case you wanted to go CrossFire or get an HD 5850. If you feel your current resolution is enough you should just stick with it and get the cheaper cards until you want to get a new one.

im back to the gtx 260 then.....lol.

a week a go in another thread another user helped me pick that card. (at 1600 x 900)

i just thought id best check to see where the ati option would lead to ......and ended questioning what i was buying; wether i should spend more. e.t.c

ypu see if i go for the better graphics card then i need to spend more money on powersupply and the moniter.

i think with my current budget il go for the 260 for the better performance.

Bro, 1600x900 should be great on a 20 inch.

I play on 1280x1024 on a 17 inch, and remember, that outputs 24% more pixels than the HD Ready standard of 1366x768, and HD Ready looks great at even 50 inches...

So with 1600x900 on a 20 inch, im sure u wont be left wanting.

Get the 260 or something in that class; im sure u wont b unhappy.

peace.
