Hi,
I've recently been trying to overclock my CPU again, its currently at 3.4GHz, but i heard its stable at around 4GHz (i have a liquid cooler so heat should be fine). Why is it that when i try to reach over 3.6-3.8GHz+ i get an error when the computer is starting up. I up my voltage to about 1.4 - 1.45 volts when i try 4GHz but it still dosent work. My RAM is at 1300 which is good, and NB/HT is at 2000MHz.

What did i do wrong?

btw i have the GA-890 Gigabyte Motherboard

First question..
when you clocked it at 3.6 ghz
do you set your nb/ht at 2000mhz and then increase your bus to 258Mhz..
or
do you increase your bus to 258 mhz and lowering your nb/ht to make sure that run at 2000mhz..? (at least your nb/ht setting at 1600Mhz)

same thing with your memory..

do you set your your memory clock to 1333 and then increase your bus to 258Mhz..
or
do you increase your bus to 258 mhz and lowering your memory clock to make sure that run at 1333mhz..? (at least your memory setting at 1066 then)

i increase bus speed, then adjust the stuff to 2000 and 1300

so the final result of your htlink and nb frequency is 2580mhz or 2000mhz..?

cpuz screenshoot please..it will really help.

actually 1055t model is not too hard to touch 4ghz *depending the chip quality*
i have 1055t model and it need 1.53v to touch 4.2 ghz.

Just tell me all your system specs and your MOBO's GPU and I'll give you my seetings for stable 4.0 GHz.

well, depend on chip quality.

some very lucky guys find good batch that can reach 4.0 ghz even at stock voltage

some have to set at 1.4 v in order to reach that clock..

some have to struggle with their voltage and have to set 1.5..

and others that unlucky enough even cant pass 3.2Ghz with their 1055T..

it's depend on chip quality and about the right setting.

that's why i ask you about cpu-z screenshoot..

I know my 1100T needs 1.5v to hit 4.1ghz, but the cooler I have kinda blows, so I settled at 3.9ghz at 1.46v drops to around 1.42v the lowest.

I have a phenom II 1065t x6 running at 4ghz stable @ 1.5 Vcore and CPU/NB@ 1.3250

From what I've read the Phenom II chips hate high temps and high voltages; and in my experience pushing higher than 1.5250 makes my cpu unstable.
