This is my first try at building a low cast gaming computer for my son. What would be the best memory?

MOBO - GIGABYTE GA-MA785M-US2H AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 785G
PROC - AMD ATHLON II 250 REGOR 3.0 SOCKET AM3 65W
VIDEO - XFZ HD575X-ZNFC RADEON 5750 1GB 128-BIT
P/S - OCZ GAMEXTREAM 600W ATX 12V CROSSFIRE READY

Any other suggestions?

If you have DDR2 RAMs on hand then an AM2+ mobo and DDR2 RAMs with an AM3 chip seems reasonable but since u starting afresh (i think) why not an AM3/DDR3 build? What is your budget and do u need LCD/OS?

Sample $5xx build - if it is stil too much, depending on what resolution games are to be played on we can cut some corners hehe

Egg items $470

Tiger Direct
NZXT Beta EVO Case $25

OCZ Mod 600W 80+ PSU $45

Total = $70

Grand Total = $540 yay or nay?

I already have already purchased the mobo & it's spec'd out for dual channel ddr2. I also have the processor, power supply & hard drive. I have a lcd monitor, but will be purchasing a HD monitor in the future. Need to purchase OS, looking at Win 7, just not quite sure which one, since I am use to XP. I have never been on Vista, so don't know what to compare it to. If this helps, my son plays COD & WOW.

What is up in the air at this point is the memory & video card. As I stated earlier, for the video card I am looking at XFZ HD575X-ZNFC RADEON 5750 1GB 128-BIT. I figured I could cut some cost elswhere to go with a little better video card. At this point I amlooking for suggestions on RAM & video card. Kind of partial to ATI RADEON, unless you can sway me towards NVIDIA with some sound advice.

Hmm how about these

RAMs:

stick to DDR2 800 cos the sheer issues/problems peeps have getting 1066 to run at advertised speed and the zeroish gain is not worth it hehe

and

This GPU

I'd say go for Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit

I would keep the 750W for future upgrades and possible SLI in the future. Will save you...
