Good laptop upgrade sound card

I'm looking for a solid laptop upgrade sound card that will be good for gaming (my Sigmatel onboard audio just doesn't cut it). Any suggestions? I've been looking at these two:

Creative SB x-fi would be the better choice, as it uses the laptops expansion slot (make sure you have on on your laptop). Other one uses USB which will limit the performance.

in either case the CPU will still be doing the bul of the work.
