Audio and network problems

hey guys,

i have a Asrock G41 mobo, and the following issues:

1- the PC does not recognize the network adapter, it is not listed on the device manager, checked BIOS and it is enabled, tried to download drivers from Asrock but the installation is interrupted because "installer cannot find atheros (model) family Ethernet network adapter".... what is the deal and how to repair?

2- the sound does not work, realteck controller does not recognize when i plug either the main stereo speakers not the headphones plugged in the front, however, i have a usb headphone and when plugged in it works perfect...what is the deal here?

progress, the network adapters are on the device manager hardware list....
just selected "show hidden devices" but still facing the same problem no connection when i plug in the cable.
