Cannot change memory timings

The RAM I currently have is: newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145263 (1600mhz, 8-8-8-24)

I also have an MSI NF750-G55 motherboard. In my bios the memory specs are stated at 1600mhz(set from 1333) but the timings are 9-9-9-24. I went into the bios and changed the RAM timings to 8-8-8-24 on both DIMMs and saved and exit. After reboot I checked the RAM settings and it said the memory speed was 1600mhz and timing still at 9-9-9-24. I went into my bios and the 8-8-8-24 settings were still there although. I went into my desktop and it also said the timings were 9-9-9-24! Why aren't the timings changing and what do I do???

What application in the desktop are you using to check the RAM timings?

If you haven't done so, download and e CPU-Z and you can check the memory speed and timing in the "memory" tab.

I previously checked with CPU-Z and Everest, both showing 9-9-9-24 timings on the 8-8-8-24 model.
