Archived from groups: comp.sys.laptops (More info?)

 

I lost the system disc that came with it and cannot rebuild the
computer without it. Can anyone point me to somewhere where I can
download a disc image or a workaround? I have recovery discs 2-1 and
2-2.

Image has Windows XP preregistered/activated for a particular computer.
Don't expect anyone to just give it to you.

Ring them ! I have sent emails in the past never had a reply to any of them.

However I did get a reply on the phone, best to ring late afternoon when
less busy.

I too have an Acer (travelmate) but not your model.Explain your
circumstances to the support desk, its in their interests to "help" you and
explain options etc.

Of course you removed the text of message you were replying to...

Are you saying that I should not have warned those who might unknowingly
give you the copy of their system disk and get themselves into trouble?
That would not be helping those people.

If you loose/damage your Photoshop disk, are you going to ask for disk copy
on Usenet and expect it to be legitimate?

As a real alternative in your case, you can buy retail Windows XP and
download necessary drivers from Acer at ftp://ftp.acer-euro.com/
