Internet access

i cant connect my desktop to the internet. it says that i am connected to the internet but i cant access it. now i tried to connect it through my router and it did not work and then i tried to do it straight from the modem to the desktop and still gave me the same message when i troubleshooted the problem; that its connected but that i cant access..

do you have a 2nd PC or laptop to test the same connection with? if this device can't connect as well, contact your ISP

if it can...

got to be a setting of some sort - have you messed about with any IP or internet settings? installed any firewall software of late?

have you ever been able to connect to the internet on this PC and sudenly this happened or is it a new setup thats not working yet?
