RAM or Hard Disk - where does it go?

When i am running a stock market applications, where the data is being pulled from the exchange servers and is continually refreshing, does it goes to the hard disk or it just stays in the RAM and also gets refreshed within the RAM?

More about hard disk
  1. Potenatially both. If this is a information systems security concern I would talk to your departments IT/IS specialists.

OK let me ask this in another way

when you are watching a dynamic website , the data you see is in your RAM or on your Hard Disk ?
  3. Again, this information can be either in the system memory, operating system pagefile or temporary internet files or temporary application data folder/files OR all of the above.
  4. Wouldn't it also be bouncing around the cache on the processor. The extra cache ( 12mb intel 775 for ex. ) vs lower cache chips would keep the information there before swapping to the system ram or swapping to the HD no ? Know what I mean ? Is this correct ?
  5. Cache is 'Smart RAM' and is continuously changing trying to anticipate what info you will need next.

    (is the OP still there?)
