I would like to have your opinion on the 5850 (single gpu) vs 5750 (crossfire). They are about the same price and the 5750CF is 15-20 more FPS.

-Should I go with the 5850 and add another 5850 in 9-12 month?
-Should I buy 5750 and wait to see what's nvidia up to?
-And finally, if I buy the 5750, should I buy the 256bit vapor-x edition instead of the 128bit edition.

My advice would be to rather go with the 5850 , seeing that you are looking to buy another one later on for CF,,5750 in CF won't even perform that much better if at all than your 5850 anyway! At what Resolution are you playing at mostly?Don't waste your time waiting on Nvidia,,

What are your Pc- specs like , is your PSU Strong Enough to pull 2X5850's and your Cpu ,Mobo? Cause You would'nt want to end up with a bottleneck.

5850 without doubt

when drivers mature it will be about same perf but only if scaling is perfect (which isnt at 1680x1050). Also you are avoiding all CF problems and using less power with 1 5850

Always go for the single if its relatively close in perf
