Hello,
On my Emachine t5062-will a seagate 1tb hdd work without slowing fm 3Gbit/s to 1.5Gbit/s data rate by placing jumper on hdd? I had the jumper on and was working slow but fine, then I removed it (with powered off) to see if hdd worked faster, and when I turned the pc on, nothing-no boot so I ppowered down and replaced jumper in same place and when I powered up, I got a blue screen lasting less than 1 sec and unable to read all that was on screen. To date still the same. Its the only HDD. Has my HDD damaged or can this be corrected? If so HOW? Thanx 0

According to the specs at http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/emachines-t5062/4507-3118_7-32493848.html your system is SATA 300 (SATA II). If there's more than one jumper, are you sure that you moved the correct one? Was the hard disk detected by the BIOS when you had it at 3Gbit/s?

If you have to reinstall, try with the drive set to 3Gbit/s. The performance difference of that drive at 3Gbit/s and 1.5Gbit/s should be minimal.
