Laptop QuadroFX: 1700M + P8700 vs 770M + T9900

Dude, I'm buyin a Dell! More specifically, 5 of them... and I have a soft-cap of approximately $1.5k each (but it's not very flexible).


Dell has a Precision Workstation platform in that range, though I'm at 2 options for CPU's + GPU's.

GPU:
1700M vs 770M (512mb)

CPU:
P8700 vs T9900

My preference is for the better GPU for CAD/CAM, though, if the performance of the 770M and 1700M would be too close to compare, I would get the 770M and allocate more towards the 6mb cache T9900...


Might anyone have a recommendation of which would provide a better choice?

i pick the 1700m and the t8700, it has a better gpu. For cuda, better gpus = faster in cuda based programs

As far as I've been able to find, the 770M and 1700M are dead even in specs...
Both are 128bit, 512mb, 500mhz-core and 800mhz memory - and if both calc at 25.6GB/sec, how much better could one be over another?

The 770M supposedly runs on a 9600 chip where as the 1700M has an 8700 platform...

showing the 1700M over the 770M by only 3.5%;

Seems like there's little advantage, unless I'm missing something...
