I'm just wondering what the minimum system requirements are for windows 7 to operate satisfactorally (sp? lol)
This is my mom's computer and it is maybe 2 yrs old, can't really remember.
Anyways, here are the system specs

Intel Core 2 Duo E4600 2.4GHz
Intel Desktop Board D945GCNL
Kingston ValueRam 2x1GB DDR2-667 (MB only has 2 slots so would have to upgrade to 2x2GB for over $100 if an upgrade was neccesary)
Seagate baracuda 500GB 7200RPM
Powerman 460W PSU (LOL!)\

NO Vid card yet so would prob get this one
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E1681...

This board only has one PCIe x16 slot, so can't use PCIe 2.0 right?

anyways she doesn't do anything on her computer except look at pictures and maybe watch some videos from her camera etc., as well as web browsing and email.

Thoughts??? Will Windows 7 Pro 64bit run smoothly here? any problem with the processor or MB running this OS???
Thanks

If you are going to buy a GPU, then buy something from the Ati HD4000 series.
Like HD4350.

PCIe 2.0 is backwards compatible with PCIe x16

any problem with 2GB of ram or will that need to be upgraded?

The computer was only like 700-800 brand new if i remember correctly, the os and vid card will be $200 and if I need new ram it'll be $300. I don't know if spending that much on an upgrade is worth it.

You dont really need to upgrade anything just to run Windows. :D

The new GPU is good only if you will be watching HD videos.

As long as she doesn't play games here's what you do.

Buy windows 7.

Now Install it.

done.
