Hello, Yeah, I wanted to know what AMD Opteron, (Dual Core 2222 or 2224SE, or Quad core Opterons @ 3.0 GHZ), would complement my ASUS Quad-father (L1N64-SLI WS) motherboard, as a gaming set-up. Obviously, am very interested in any response. Thank You! Dubroz

The highest clock speed will do the best, if they are within 200 MHz of the quad or if you than to overclock then get the quad.

hi newcomer and welcome to the Tom's hardware forum.

1- The Opteron series is a server processor, not for gaming.
2- Only support DDR2 ('till I know)
3- With the price of the Opteron processor, you can get a i7-920, i7-860 or even, the i7-975

Get the quad. More and more games support more threads. Down the road you may be able to add a second one. That makes for 8 cores.
