I am trying to Format a 1000GB Seagate Pen Drive using Windows XP or Windows 7 using NTFS , It keeps failing , do you know why and can you give me the correct procedure to carry this out ? I am formatting from Windows
Computer management Administrative Tools.

Thanks

Format it any way it will allow a successful completion.

Then; Start>Run>CMD (to get a command window)

Enter this: convert E: /fs:ntfs (This assumes the newly formatted drive is letter E, change to make proper for your use).

There are some that will simply click Start>Run>convert E: /fs:ntfs>ok and be done with it, but I like to monitor the progress myself. A newly formatted drive will convert in a matter of seconds.
