How important is a bios update before installing a new ssd?

The reason I'm asking is that I planned to update my bios before installing an ssd and moving from vista 32 to windows 7-64, but I can't seem to get the iso file to flash for some reason. I want to get the new hardware installed tonight while my little ones are sleeping as I'm going to be out of time tomorrow and all next week until I get to next weekend again.

Updating BIOS isn't necessary,you can simply install your SSD without updating.
