X2 cheaper cards vs. 1 more expensive???

Would it be more productive to get two cheaper, say 4650s or 4670s, or one more expensive 4850 if I was planning to stay around the $150 mark for a graphics card? And just to have a little background, I'm planning to build a ~$700 system featuring a 955 BE. I'm not planning to use this for games, per say, but if I decided to I'd like to have the option. Thanks!

Depends on the cards. 4670 CF wont give you much better performance than HD4890. But the HD4770 is a good CF card. Its thumps many high end cards in CF.

The 4850 should outperform two 4670. Plus, you should be able to find at a sub-100$ price.

2 HD 4670s will perform pretty much like a HD 4850,so getting a single 4850 would be a wiser choice

For $150 you should be able to get a much superior 4870 or 5770.
Even a $100ish 4850 will give you better performance than a pair of 4670's.
Stick with a single GPU, there are plenty of excellent options in your price range.
