ok so i started upgrading ! i have i7 920.. going to over clock once i get memory and hd5870.. 2TB right now my memory is 3gb 1066 mother board is intel not sure what model but it does support 1866

Hi newcomer and welcome to the Tom's hardware forum.

U have an i7-920 that support tri channel, so, the 4GB (2x2GB) dual channel isn't a good option for take advantage of the tri channel feature u should go with this G.Skill PI series 1600 that have a much better CL and with less price.

Now if u insist in go with dual channel this G.Skill Ripjaws series 1600 are the best option price/performance and with less price and better CL u can get better performance over the Corsair.

P.D. Don't waste money in RAM coolers because that coolers usually don't give u any performance advantage.

I was looking at the G.SKILL PI Series 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800). They are $180 on newegg. I also noticed on newegg that the Mushkin Enhanced Redline 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) are $185 after rebate. The GSkill has a 7 latency while the mushkin have a 6 latency.

I never had mushkin memory before, is it worth the buy? Will they be good in the long run?
