Increasing FSB to OC AMD Phenom BE 965 Increase temp more them Multi?

Hello, I am trying to see if I can reach 4.0 ghz on my system, but haven't had any luck, I've tried Multiplier and FSB, but I notcied that when using FSB, it increased overall temp by alot, is that normal or am I doing it wrong?

My system
CPU - AMD Phenom II X4 965 - Oced to 3.8 ghz , CPU voltage at 1.45(Any lower and it crash during 3Dmark GPU physic test)
Air Cooler - Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus

Ram - 8G Running at 8-8-8-24 1600mhz 4
Voltage 1.64v

Slot 1 and 2
OCZ AMD Black Edition 4GB

Slot 3 and 4

GPU - MSI N460GTX Cyclone 768D5/OC - Going to upgrade to a new GPU, looking at the GTX 670 or HD7950) Oced through MSI Afterburner - GPU 910 mhz, Memory - 2100mhz

PSU - I believe it's a 650w Antec

OS - Window 7 Professional 64 bit

If I go over 3.9ghz, and run 3D mark, when ever the physic test appear, it will always BSOD, I tried to OC with Multiplier and FSB, but both can't go above 3.8ghz.

Multi-plier X19, Ram 8-8-8-24-2T 1600mhz, NB-2800, Ran 3Dmark 11 and PCmark 7

3.75ghz cpu
Mutiplier X15, FSB 250, Ram - GOt it to run 2000mhz once, but then when ever I leave bio, it's black screen, so I toned it down to 1633 mhz, NB ,

More about increasing phenom increase temp multi
  1. issued RAM ... try use dual channel first and .. don't mix it
  2. So set it to 1333 mhz or auto?

It's not a good idea to mix memory brands and expect them to run good together, it's not an impossible goal, just not a good idea, but sometimes we have to do what we have to do.

Those modules were never tested to run their Cas Settings with other pairs, try relaxing the timings to 9,9,9,24 @ 2t @ 1.65v, then retry overclocking raise multiplier / Vcore only, with the FSB stock.

If that does not get you a higher overclock drop to one set of modules at their settings 8,8,8,24 and try again.

Memory stability has everything to do with how far you will get raising the multiplier and achieving overall stability.

You have an AMD 965BE, take advantage of your unlocked multiplier, it's the easiest overclocking you'll ever do.

  4. It ran 3dmark 11 at 3.9ghz.
But as soon as I restart my PC, the bio says the overclocking failed.

If I try it at 4.0ghz
    I get this BSOD

The system encountered an uncorrectable hardware error
  5. read first this guide :

ussualy BSOD 0x00000124 is not enough voltage CPU
first find stable overclock cpu without raise voltage (set voltage at manual ) just raise multi step by step and test it use prime95

Sorry! I had meant to confirm what you had originally said, you are exactly right. Ryan
