well, yes and no...the 550BE can be unlocked into a quad core between 70% - 80% of the time, and it runs faster and overclocks better than the 925. Even if you get really unlucky and its cores do not unlock, its performance is overall very close to the 925 in the CPU charts in video editing. Usually in video editing you will run out of Ram on large files that will slow you down as much as the thread count...but ideally you want both.

Adding 8GB of RAM would be nice, but I don't think that's going to happen, it's an extra 80 bucks. You really think that 8GB of ram is worth it over a quad core? I can't see the people I'm buying it for editing files larger than 4GB.

I don't think you understand that the 550BE can be unlocked into a quad core by enabling ACC. The majority of 550BEs have 4 good cores and will operate as a quad core. A few of them actually have bad cores that cannot be enabled, but those are pretty rare. I've yet to get a bad one out of 8 builds using them. If you get one that doesn't unlock you can always return it for another one. I was just trying to help you get them most out of your budget since the 550BE will run faster and be cheaper than the 925.
