My 500GB wd passport is read on my pc and i can open it but i cant find my 340 G

my 500GB wd passport is read on my pc and i can open it
but i cant find my 340 GB files or make a new folder or file
but in properties capacity is 500gb and used is 340gb and free space is 160 gb
i cant make chkdsk or format too
what should i do?!!
please help

Google this: XP max hdd size

Very simple.

found a solution
use gparted then u will be able to explore ur hdd
and u can format it
then it will be usable again
