Other than that, the most important thing is keeping your system fully up to
date with Windows Update and any software & plugins installed on the system.
Most critical in way of software are any Adobe products, Sun Java, QuickTime or
any other software on your system which may be targeted by Malware authors.
File Hippo is a good site for keeping track of software updates.
There are other tools I could recommend, but not knowing your level of technical knowledge or malware removal training, I can't rightfully recommend any of them as you could really mess up your system royally without someone to guide you. As it is, Remote assistance is not my strong point.
