WINXP OS Installation in SATA Hardrive

I'm try to install a fresh copy of Windows XP in a SATA 1GB hard drive.

  1. You will need the sata drivers on a floppy disk. During the XP install you can use F6 to install a third party driver, the sata drivers. If you don't have a floppy drive, this may help.

  2. Just to add a couple of other suggestions - sometimes I've found simply pressing the F6 at the appointed time and then pressing Enter when prompted for a floppy disk, makes the system look deeper into its Cabinet files for an appropriate driver. Usually, it finds one.

    Other times, I've gone to the trouble of making a floppy and even that doesn't work. In those circumstances, you need to go into BIOS and change the AHCI setting to IDE.
