Processor= Dual core @ 2.60GHZ
Ram=2GB

Dvd-Rom=18x ASUS
Cd-Rom=52x ASUS
Power Supply=400W
Hard Disk Drive=320GB
Stereo=Headphone
Operating System=Windows XP Service Pack 3 updated from SP 2

yeah i used the one came with the package.But the driver is huge for my slow 128kbs connection to download(88.5MB)
Ok OK OK should i use driver scanner to detect my drivers?don't worry my driver scanner is the full version it can detect and either download the driver for me.

What's the date today?
Anyways 9400GT isn't a very powerful card to handle L4D2 on medium to high settings! Get a bigger RAM. 2GB ain't enough for games days. Also PSU brand?

The question is not what your PSU supplies or what your PC needs. Its about brand, reliability plus the efficiency of the PSU.

The power supply came with the casing!
m

December 3, 2009 5:06:09 AM

Woah there! This could be a problem! Most casings come bundled with a third grade, substandard PSU, even if the cases are from cooler master (which are generally bundled with CM Extreme Power series of PSU's, which are ready made time bombs). A bad PSU may lead to problems like burnt circuits, burnt motherboards, dead RAM's, brunt GPU's and whole lot of other monsters. Advice: Change PSU as soon as possible.

I have the same card... and the same problem...

this is how I "fixed" it:

-Create a shortcut to the left4dead2.exe.
-Right click it and select properties.
-On the target field of the Shortcut tab, type -lv outside the quotes. this will disable some advanced model features of the game.

Try running it now. It should work, however the corpses will disappear almost immediately after you kill the zombies and also all model damage and blood splatter effects will be disabled too, So it sucks but at least it runs.

Still trying to figure out another way.

Also L4D2 runs like a charm on the 9400GT.
Suggesting a card change is not a solution when the card is pretty capable of running the game

Here's what i did:first, i made a shortcut of the desktop l4d2 icon on the desktop,second, i right clicked it and then properties then i went to shortcut tab and saw few things like: Target type Application
Target location Left 4 Dead 2
Target "F:\Left 4 Dead 2 By IT NEXT\revLoader.exe"
so should i type(-lv) after "F:\Left 4 Dead 2 By IT NEXT\revLoader.exe" ?
i typed and it says:'name specified is not valid'
what do i do?and i don't understand what u said at .(-On the target field of the Shortcut tab, type -lv outside the quotes)

There is a good news and a bad news,the good news is that Left 4 dead 2 doesn't freeze anymore hurrah!!!!,but the bad news is it crashes to desktop,
all i did was that i just changed the settings from med to low,very low about 640X xxx,
after i did that the game didn't freeze but it crashes to desktop(CTD),i've googled about this random crash and found few such topics but none were useful.help!!!
there is still hope,am i right?also i downloaded the updated patch.

I'm really doubtful that a patch is required

If you have to lower the graphical detail to stop the game from crashing and feezing, the chances are your video card is getting stressed. I feel like I'm talking to myself because you obviously are not taking our advice.

My dad went to USA two weeks ago and he is going to stay few more months,so should i ask him to get a gtx 2xx card for me?He'll surely question me why am i saying this because i just brought this 9400 GT few weeks ago.If i tell my uncle(who also lives there)he will present it to me as a gift.

GTS 250,I heard that it's a rebadged 9800gtx+,gigabyte HD5770 is also available at very low price,but i have no idea from where to buy it in San Francisco,if u ever lived there please tell me

The 9800 GTX+ isn’t a rebadged, although there are a lot of similarities, the GTS 250 has as smaller die of 55nm opposed to 65nm, uses less power, outputs less heat, has tighter memory latencies and the memory and GPU bus is clocked higher than standard 9800 GTX+. Performance wise the GTS250 would outperform the 9800 GTX+ slightly because of the enhancements previously stated. However if you are able to buy a HD 5770 for the near same price or cheaper its definitely the better deal as the 5770 is slightly faster with DX11 support.

Can my DG31PR motherboard support HD 5770 GDDR5?look my motherboard supports pci,e and ddr2,
How many Watts of power supply do i need for HD 5770?will 700w power supply be enough to install HD 5770?
the one that gigabyte has,i heard that it has 128bit memory interface,1GB vram,supports direct x 11,HDMI and etc,
all i mean is that my 9400gt also supports all(not dx 11)but less memory,
my 9400gt has:GPU = 650Mhz
Shader = 1625
Memory = 400
but all of this can be increased,
like:GPU = 650Mhz to 1300Mhz
Shader = 1625Mhz to 3250Mhz
Memory = 400Mhz to 1312Mhz

You'd need about a 350-400w good power supply, you didn’t specify the brand/model of your power supply so it could be junk, but I would go out on a limb and say it should be fine to handle a 5770. I'm confused what you are asking me afterwards so you are going to have to restructure your sentence.

All i said was that i can overclock my 9400gt with a software that came along with the card,its 'gamer hud lite',and the Gpu clock speed can be increased from 650 to 1300mhz using that software.
memory clock speed can be increased from 400 to 1312mhz.
I hope its clearer.

so should i just forget gaming?i mean i have no pocket money left and my father and grandmother is in USA,so there is no one,no i m wrong i have about $60 left and i don't think that is enough to buy any better card,right?please suggest something,
l4d2 doesn't crash nor freeze until boomer,smoker,hunter or splitter comes,it runs just fine until any of them pop-ups,is there any way to reduce their textures or whatever?

I don't think my 9400gt is fulfilling its job,i had no idea about 9400gt when i first went to buy it,i searched on youtube whether it can play l4d or not,and i found yes it can,at that time i was a huge fan of l4d,and thought that a card that can play a game like l4d on high,could play anything at least on med,and that it doesn't cost much,so why not to buy it for at least 1 year?now im regretting about why i brought it,but i didn't even have any other option.The shop where i brought my pc a man told me that i should go for 9800GT,but i refused because it costs a lot and thats out of my budget.The 9800gt is $132 but gts 250 is only $135 so why would i buy something that is less in performance but costlier?anyway is gts 250 a good card?if so i can order it,but what do i do with my 9400GT?

Played L4D on a 9400GT and thought the card was kickass. Realized later that the 9400GT is lowest on performance! Did some research (cheers Tom's!) and decided to switch to the 250GTS....haven't looked back since! The card is, simply awesome and can tackle pretty much whatever you throw at it on resolutions upto 1680x1050. The card does support higher resolutions, but won't give the same punch like the GTX Series.

Given the choice between the 9800Gt and the 250GTS, definitely the 250GTS....for the simple reason, newer tech! Plus its a tad faster than the 9800GT. Also, in that price range, there's simply nothing better....unless you're a Radeon fan! I'm nVidia all the way, so can't say.

That was your first mistake, in YouTube videos there is no way to identify the frame rate in which the game is playing at, they might have a faster processor or more ram which might compensate slightly for the underwhelming 9400 GT. You should of read professional reviews from hardware websites like Tomshardware, Tech Power Up, The Tech Report, Xbitlabs, Hexus, AnandTech, Guru 3D Over Clockers Club etc.

The GTS 250 is a really good card, its midrange (not high end) but should be able to play most games on high or medium settings with a decent frame rate for a year or so. I would recommend that you buy online as those local prices you quoted look a bit overpriced, also consider the new ATI 5750 if its priced similarly as it supports DX11. You could put your old 9400 GT on eBay, sell it as new and recoup the money back. If you are broke I would get the ATI 4670 it is a slow video cards but should be a bit faster than your 9400 GT.
