Deleting folders on external drive

Hello,
I have a WD elements external HD. My Pc is running XP. I can't delete the sub folders in my HD and when I want to transfer file to its sub folder, the destination doesn't appear even though there is + symbol before the HD name (in the 'Move' box). I have read other articles relevant to my issue but they doesn't appear to help.

I still can delete other files in the HD though and all the sub folders have '.exe' Are they virus or just the settings guys.

Have you tried deleting the files while booted into safe mode? you didn't list what error message you are getting, but if it says the file is in use, deleting while in safe mode usually works.

Well, there isn't any error message. I delete one sub folder and the next minute it automatically appear right where it was :|

However I haven't try deleting in safe mode. Though, how to do that?

I can only say I appreciate your help because the newbie inside my head just doesn't want to show me how to reboot unit yet. Hehe...
