New SSD System Disk Failure...

so i bought a new ssd, the crucail m4 for my pc. was gonna install windows 7 64 bit on it so i took my old drive out and put the new one in. changed it to ahci and to boot from the disk. then i restarted it and i get this error, DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS. my mother board is gigbyte ga ep43 ds3l

Did you try inserting the windows disk and setting it to boot from the optical drive?

yes i did. and it says DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER. not what i prevously wrote

It never flashed "Press any key to boot from dvd" or something like that? Do you have another optical drive you can try? Are you sure the DVD drive was set first in the boot order?

This is an authentic/original microsoft windows disk, right - not a backup?
