I have a windows xp reinstall cd but no product key what do i do?

What do I do? I have a disk for XP pro but lost the product key because it was on my laptop and i threwq my lapto out when i got a new pc. I want to put xp on my new pc but I dont know how. please help!

Contact Microsoft & provide proof of purchase.

Yes do what ksiemb said. Or you can buy another product key from microsoft. Or google for a cd key although i highly recommend you dont do that.

So you threw out the laptop with the CoA in it as well as discarding the packet the CD came in? Rather than buy another expensive XP disk, try Linux. Most are free, particularly PCLinuxOS from http://www.pclinuxos.com.

Chances are, your laptop had an OEM installation anyway so the disk wouldn't work in another box unless it is a "proper" gold coloured, hologrammed M$ CD.
