It's That Time Again! New System - Max It!

Ok, so here's the deal.

My current system is great and I love it, but it won't do max on everything anymore so it's time to upgrade!

As you can see from my signature it's a couple of years old...

While playing COD:MW2 it recommended me @ 800x600... I was able to play single player just fine though @ 1024x768 but didn't dare try it beyond that, so yeah.

Here's what I'm looking to do.

I can do totally new or I could just upgrade either way, but I have a feeling I'm at the max on my motherboard, so probably a new system total is in order.

What do you guys recommend. I am looking to be able to max out anything out there right now at the cheapest price possible. It's doesn't have to be an 'elite' system, just needs to be able to run the gambit at this point in time.

I haven't been doing much research since I built my current system, so being out of the market, I don't know whether I should go back to AMD or stick with Intel, etc..

Your monitor rez and a budget would be nice. There is a sticky @ the top of the page how to ask for build addive , would be grate if you can fill it out.

I'm not looking to stay within a certain budget necessarily, just roughly looking to run the latest games on the most budget conscious system possible. If it's $500 then it's $500... If it's $1000, then it's $1000, that's not really my concern.

As far as res goes. I use a 22" HDMI capable monitor, if that is helpful. I want to be able to fully utilize the capabilities

is the max 1680X1050 on that or 1920X1080 ? Also Crysis is the most GPU intensive game out ATM and if you read this http://www.maximumpc.com/article/features/ati_radeon_hd_5970_undisputed_performance_champ?page=0%2C2 to max out that game on a rez of 1920X1200 you need 2 5970 in xfire and thats about 1400 bucks, So i will go with maxing out most games

1980x1080 is correct.

Ok, maybe a bit much on the Crysis maximum as I have no desire to play it really

I'm looking for general maximums then:

Normal gaming situations like Modern Warfare 2, Left For Dead 2 maybe, etc.

Something like this should max out most game - a few but can play @ max setting with about 30FPS like crysis

Now, I have been a loyal nVidia guy for years and years. Is there an equivalent card from nVidia right now or is the Radeon truly my best bet?

for something close give or take, your looking @ a GTX 285 but this is not a DX11 card like the ATI HD 5850 but who knows when or if we will need DX11 before we replace are GPUs. That mobo i posted does sli or xfire and the PSU is enough to do so maybe you like to get a GTX 275 and add another in a yesr or so if need more GPU power

The HD 5850 used to be a clear winner but now the supply and demand is so high they have jacked up thos HD 5850s i got mine for 260 :/
