Wanting to make a portable desktop computer.

I am looking for help turning my big ol' Coolermaster RC690 case into something more portable. I am mostly wanting to re-use everything I have, just opt for a smaller case and maybe some other little extras like DDR3 RAM or a SSD.

Current specs:
Coolermaster CM690
AMD Phenom 2 X3 720 processor at 3.0 GHz
4 gigs of OCZ DDR2 1066 RAM
750 Watt corsair PSU
Sapphire 4890 graphics card
GIGABYTE GA-MA790X-UD4P AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 790X ATX AMD Motherboard

What I might want:
Thermaltake Lanbox Lite
GIGABYTE GA-MA785GMT-UD2H AM3 AMD 785G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

I want to reuse everything but the DDR2 RAM, the case. and the Mobo.

What I am asking for some help with is:
Will everything work?
Suggestions for DDR3 RAM.
Opinions on going from huge case to Lanbox one.

Thanks, and any replies/feedback is appreciated.

More about wanting make portable desktop computer
  1. 1. Yes it will work
    2. Try to go DDR3 1333 CL 7 if u can
    3. If u intend to go after mkt HSF check height clearance as some LANBOX casings have their PSU right above the cpu cage area of mobo

    Hoped i helped ^^
  2. What do you mean by DDR3 1333 CL 7? Yea, right now i have a Xigmatek Dark Knight cooler, and I am 100% sure that would not fit in the Lanbox, so I was just gonna go with the stock little AMD cooler. Even over clocked to 3.0 GHz this processor wont get super hot.

I also forgot to mention are SSD's worth the money right now? And if so what do you guys suggest?

    Thanks.
  3. Try to get DDR3 RAMs of 1333mhz frequency and CAS Latency 7 Well if it were me i'd say hold off SSDs for a wee bit as the tech and pricing has not settled down to a stable pattern IMO
