A 9600GT outperforms a GT240. A 5750 would be FAR be your best option out for those 2 plus your current GPU.

Why upgrade? Is there anything specific you are trying to achieve?

Neither of those cards are much faster than the 9600 GT which was and still is a good little card.

This review has a comparison with 240 GT, and you will see the two are close and the 9600 GT wins some events.

I don't have a direct comparison with the 5750 but it is close to the nVidia GTS 250 and a little better than the 4850. So here is a card comparing those two with the 9600 GT. The 5770 will be faster - but perhaps not enought to warrant an upgrade.

Further it is expected that the 240s will drop in price in the near future after the first surge in demand is over since the smaller fab process made the manufacturering cost lower than the models replaced. Also nVidia is expected to weigh in with its response to the 5000 series next quarter. Might be worth waiting to see what that turns up and how it affects prices

^Agreed. A 9600GT is MORE than enough for HTPC work. Also, turn off your damn CAPS LOCK KEY!
