i want to see if i can build a system that will use as less energy as possible. not to play any games but just to do word processing and internet surfing. this is my idea right now:

intel atom 330
intel motherboard
mini itx 80% bronze certified 300w power supply
western digital green 500gb harddrive
2gb ddr2 667 ram (1 stick)
dvd-burner drive
windows xp/7

what do you guys think? i don't think there's any ram that can "save energy"

i did some resarch a intel atom 330 is pretty much equivalent to a high end p4/ celeron processor so it should fine

these western digital green is showing some impressive energy savings:

nearly half the energy used as regular hard drives. i did some research on the SSD. seems like the wester digital green uses less energy than the SSD

i also did a research that pentium E process may use less energy than intel atom?

pentium full load: 24 watts, idle: 12 watts
atom 230 full load: 36 watts, idle: 28 watts.

and pentium is actually faster than atom?

Err u are way off - clock for clock such old school chips like Pentium E and Sempron socket 754 is faster than an Atom!
