Not being funny, but for a novice...where? For instance, mine is an old desktop, (2005 model) do you plug them in the back of the Tower, or can you plug them in the front anywhere?

You need access to a User / Service Manual for your Computer model. If you do not have one, download or view one at the Vendor's Site. Since you didn't mention that, I cannot provide a link.
