Gigabyte 5770 vs MSI 4870

I will be getting the 5770 from gigabyte or the 4870 from MSI..Is one brand better than the other?

I will be gaming on 1280x1024 max and I have Core2Duo 2.33 ,,,

I have actually seen benchmarks and both cards are very close in performance especially on my resolution.. I am just getting a second opinion.

  1. If they are the same price, the 4870 is a little faster, but your cpu would make these two probably perform about the same. So its probably worth getting the new model,5770 and its pluses (smaller gpu die, runs cooler, etc).
  2. At your res they are both overkill. If you don't plan on upgrading that monitor any time soon you'd be better off saving a good bit of money and grabbing a GTS 250 or HD4770.
  3. The 5770 will support DX11 and therefore probably last you longer if you don't plan to upgrade soon.
  4. Why not? With the HD4850s disappearing act the GTS 250 makes sense at that price point.
