i used to be able to play supreme commander forged alliance over the Internet with a friend by going into the LAN lobby and typing in his IP. Its not working anymore, does anyone know why, or have another method to play online without using the official gas powered games net? thanks

You'd have to know his Public IP address given to him by his ISP. I assume you're not on the same LAN anymore?

Also, if a router is in play, you would need to enable port forwarding on the router to forward the game's ports to his PC. I'd suspect you'd want to do this on both ends, yours and the other person's.

ok thanks. i have always been using his public ip i think. i just googled "what is my ip" and then sent it to him over steam chat and he would do vice versa if i was going to join his lobby. i had never bothered port forwarding. will i have to?
