I have an Acer Aspire 4720Z laptop with Windows XP. For the past few weeks my Nero is giving problem. I had Nero 9 when the problem started; whenever I started writing dvd, Nero will burn upto say 3% or 7% and then show error message. So I uninstalled it, used Nero cleaning tool, installed Nero 8 but the problem remained. It began showing message like " Session fixation error G:HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA T40N" . Then I changed to Nero 6; but still the same problem. I use various DVD makes available in India like Moserbaer, Writex....earlier also I used to write them having no problem. Another thing I have noted is that even after uninstalling, Nero DriveSpeed, Nero InfoTool, Nero DiscSpeed, Nero ControlCenter stays in Control Panel> Add and Remove Programs dialog box, without mentioning there sizes. Can't remove them. I am attaching the Nero 6 error log........Can anyone help me?

Check your ASPI layer drivers, as this is most likely the problem. Here are good directions and batch files to get the job done. Use killASPI then instASPI. All instructions are on the site. http://radified.com/ASPI/forceaspi.htm

I second the IMGBurn, it is a fantastic program. After using Nero for several years I switched because I could not see spending $50+ for a Nero upgrade. Since, I have never looked back. The only thing I miss from Nero is the audio encoding for making .mp3s, but there are several open source programs for that.

Does your drive read CD/DVDs okay?

Reply from Koushik:

Thanks for suggestions from area51reopened and singemagique. I did killASPI and instASPI as suggested but problem persists. My laptop does not have any problem with reading CD/DVD. Burning stops at 3% and shows error messages like "Could not perform End of Disc- at- once". "Burn process failed at (8X11,080 kB/S)"

How can I try not using disc at once? I mean, is there any such option in Nero? I have never used it . Can you tell me how to on/off the option? What is basically "disc at once"?

01. Try fimware flashing for the dvd writer you have. Try to download the correct file or you'll get the same message.
02. Remove the dvd writer & use contact cleaner to clean the lens.
03. You can also test by writing to good quality re-writable disc whether to make sure whether there is no problem with the set of dvd disc you are writing to.
04. Use nero ultra version 6 & if you can duel boot try doing in a fresh copy of Windows.
**** "Could not perform end of Disc" comes mostly due a firmware, corrupt hardware or software driver issue. I hope above helps****
