I need help choosing a graphics, i am building a new computer and didn't know which graphic card would be the best

I am choosing between the 4770 and 4670, and i am comparing them to a 9600,

My questions are:

which one is better than the 9600?

What is the difference between the two and how much of a difference it would make in real games?

I play games like COD4 and downloadable games for my parents

More about : choosing graphics card

In terms of performance: 4670<9600GT<4770

HD 4770 is the most powerful of them all.All of them are power efficient.

BTW What resolution you'll be playing at?
And From where you'll buy the card?

Are you talking about 9600GT or 9600GSO?

The 4670 is slightly less powerful than the 9600GT and about on par with the 9600GSO. The 4770 is quite a bit more powerful than the 9600GT.

Check out this link, and take a look at Tom's charts, should answer your questions. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-graphics-card,...

In terms of real world performance, results will vary with different games, but I think you're looking at an increase of ~10FPS with the 4770.

It is a little less powerful than the HD4770 but can be brought up to the level of HD4770 hd4850 with mild overclock.

Radeon HD 4770 is better because it is the fastest between them and it is a DX 10.1 video card while Geforce 9600 is the older generation DX 10 card from NVIDIA (refreshed of Geforce 8800 series but NVIDIA rebranded them as Geforce 9 series).

However, if you were to get Radeon HD 4770 to play COD4, it would actually be better if you spend a little bit more and get the newest and latest DX 11 generation video card like Radeon HD 5770 or at least Radeon HD 5750 or if you have more budget to burn and play at higher resolution then you could go with Radeon HD 5850/ HD 5870. Most people would still recommend Radeon HD 5770 over Radeon HD 5750 but HD 5750 is good for those on a budget and it will outperform HD 4770 and allow you to see DX 11 quality graphics or allowing you to play future DX 11 games (in DX 11 mode). That is just my recommendation but if you wanna stick to the cheaper, older generation video cards then that's fine.

YES by about 5-10% barely noticeable.

All generations have cheaper cards and more expensive cards so there will be cheaper HD 5xxx cards (Radeon HD 5600 series' price would be around your budget) but the only problem is that you had to wait. Companies look at many different customers with different budget for spending so this is why they make cards of same generation but at different performance and at different price.

Anyway, if you must buy now and don't wanna go with HD 5700 series which are the current cheapest HD 5xxx cards for the moment then most people would recommend you Radeon HD 4770 especially if you wanna do gaming and spending less. Try not to go below HD 4770 for gaming otherwise you will lose a lot of fps for real action games like COD4. Since you are playing real action game then you need a more powerful card like at least HD 4770.

I think that HD 4830 is slightly weaker than HD 4770. HD 4770 uses 40nm GPU and HD 4830 uses 55nm GPU so HD 4770 will produce lesser heat than HD 4830 and allows you to overclock more as well as consuming lesser power than HD 4830. HD 4770 would even save your money more than HD 4830.

I say first choose a good brand like Sapphire (good with ATI) and i like that you are going for ATI.
Now lol the 4670 is kinda weak, 9600gt is decent, 4770 is best, but i say go for the 48xx series

hope you get best bang for buck

Between HD4770 and HD4850 you should just pick the best price because of little performance difference. Keep in mind though that the HD4830 is almost as good a card and it is up to you to decide how much cheaper it needs to be to warrant purchasing it. Take a look at the link I posted before in this thread and maybe it will help you decide.

Even a high quality 400W Unit like Corsair CX400 will be enough...

yeah but the power requirements for the 4850 say 500?

But the real life benchmraks and power consumption says that it'll run well on a 400W unit.
