Hello,
I'm installing my GIGABYTE GA-MA74GM-S2 into a cooler master cm690. when installing the standoffs there is a 7th hole for a standoff that has no hole in the motherboard tray the 7th screw hole. its the right most bottom hole. Do i need that screw with eh standoff or am i fine with just the 6? its the hole under the line for IDE/PATA connector. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ImageGallery.aspx?CurImag...

Don't put any standoff that doesn't have the corresponding hole in the mobo, it might touch a circuit on the back of the mobo and short it.

I think the OP is describing the opposite. A motherboard mount point with no standoff hole. Though that doesn't sound right.

Falcon your right. the motherboard has a mount point but there is no standoff hole below it. I finished the computer and just held the motherboard when plugging things in near it. posted and everything. so I guess it was just a extra hole for some reason
