My monitor can accept a vga cable or a DVI cable. My graphics card has a DVI output. Is there a noticeable difference in performance if I use a DVI to vga cable instead of a DVI cable? I ask because, I already own a DVI to vga cable, but not a DVI to DVI cable. Thanks!

To be honest, I cannot see any difference between using the DVI or VGA monitor inputs when using low resolutions (i.e less than 1280 x 1024) but above that using the VGA input things can start to get a bit blurry, or other visible problems start to surface such as flickering or rippling. If things look fine with your current cable, then dont worry about it. If you start to notice any artefacts or issues, then get yourself a DVI cable. Any old cheap one will work just fine
