Wd passport clear memory

my WD Passport is 95% full and much is now irrelevant. I need to delete all files and then starting from a blank memory backup my current files. Should I simply delete specific folders or can I clear all and start again.

No, you want to format the drive. Go to My Computer, right click on the drive, and then click "format..." Make sure the File System is NTFS, change the Volume label to whatever you want, and make sure the "Quick Format" button is checked. Click "Start" and let windows do it's thing for a few seconds. You will then have a drive as clean as the day you bought it.
