Controller Card Performance

Hello,

I was wondering if there is a performance loss when connecting a HDD to a controller card instead of connecting it directly to the motherboard. The question assumes that both the motherboard bus and the controller bus are of the same type.

I didn't try HDD controller card.
But i believe directly connect to main board is faster after long run.
At the moment few sec of data transfer is not much different but if you try to move or copy large file.
It will show Directly connection is faster then controller card.
HDD controller card is on PIC - it will be slower.
HDD controller card is on PIC-E - it is faster but still slower then directly connect.
