Crossfire HD4xxx with HD5xxx???

Hey guys
I'm just wondering if this can be done or not? The chart on the AMD website seems to indicate it is a no-no... Is that final or has anyone tried it?

Yes its a no-no,you can' crossfire HD 4xxx with HD 5xxx series

The first number after HD should be same to crossfire! Like HD5xxx would go with HD5xxx and HD4xxx would go with HD4xxx!

The first two, actually.

You can CF an HD48xx with any other 48xx, you can CF any 58xx with any other 58xx (a 5970 should work too), you can CF an HD46xx with any other 46xx, but you can't CF outside of those groups.
