Can't start in Safe Mode

Whenever my computer shuts down unsuccessfully and shows the safe mode selecting screen during bootup, I can't select safe mode (keyboard doesn't respond when I press up/down arrows and enter).

I have a Razer Lycosa Mirror Edition keyboard. Is it because of the keyboard? Should I try it with a less "sophisticated" keyboard?

The Razer Lycosa is known for not working during the POST. Use a PS2 keybaord. Also make sure Legacy Support in the BIOS is turned on.
