Netbook Only Recognizing Half of RAM?

Hi guys, i just bought an Asus eee 1005PB netbook, has had no problems, so i decided to order a memory upgrade from amazon and upgrade the RAM from 1gb to 2gb. This is a compatible netbook to run 2gb, so that is not the issue. However after i installed the new stick, it is still only recognizing 1gb installed. Have already run msconfig to check the memory limit, and reinstalled the RAM several times, to no avail. Any other ideas?

Possibly bad memory.

When I upgraded the memory for my Samsung netbook, I bought the memory at BestBuy and changed the sodimm in the parking lot. That way, if I had problems, I could just walk back into the store.
