Graphics Card Upgrade

Hi,

I wanna buy a new sub 100euro's graphics card. I mainly use my PC for gaming (games like Call Of Duty MW2, etc.)
The only problem is, I don't really know which one to buy.
At the moment I've got an ATI Radeon HD3650, and I'm looking for a card that's better (ofcourse)
Is there anything out there that's better but consumes about as much watts as the HD 3650 ?

I was looking at the XFX HD 4770...

ATI Radeon HD 3650
2 Gigs of DDR2 - SDRAM @800Mhz
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (@2,4Ghz)
250 gb HDD (@ 10.000rpm)
Got a 19inch monitor.

Okay; I didn't rlly know if I had to repost it [don't know the forum rules ;X]

So I opened up my PC and saw that it said;
Max: 350watt
Medium: 250watt
Low: 160watt

My PC is a Dell, and I heard they underrate their power supply's.
Anyways; what are your suggestions?

Thx in advance.
Now where are the forum rules : >

  1. Hmm, I think the HD4770 should be ok on that PSU but it's close. You could also look at a 9800gt but it needs to be one of the low power editions without a power connector. It's not quite as powerful but it uses less power.
Alternately there's the HD5750 which is more powerful than the HD4770 but uses less power(very slightly less). It's also DX11 but might be outside of your budget depending on the prices over there.
  2. IMO the 4770 would be a good match to that system, and should be fine with that PSU.
  3. 250W is probably the safest sustained wattage and 350W is for peaks. A Radeon 4770 should be just fine with that system. If you really are worried about it though, go with GT240 GDDR5. It's a little slower than the 4770, but not too much and it uses less power. It's even more miserly than the Radeon 4670. Check out this gigabyte with a really crazy looking cooler.

  4. 5750
  5. Hmmm...
Does the XFX editions use more/less power?
How much better is the 5750 then the 4770?
    What's the best Price/quality? The 5750 or the 4770?
  6. Brand differences between reference cooler equipped cards is limited to the warranties and customer service.
  7. The performance difference between an HD4770 and an HD5750 is about 15-20%
The cheapest HD4770 on newegg at the moment is $100, the HD5750 is $145. In terms of pure performance it's probably not worth it but the HD5750 is DX11 while the HD4770 is not.

Is it in the sub 100 pricerange?
And if it is; what can I expect from it?
is the performance better than the 4770?
  11. its been said that it will be in the $100 pricerange, which means itll have to compete with the 4770 which i doubt it will if it only really has 400 shaders, but i never fund it advisable to buy right before new products in the same range are about to be released, , but 350 watts is a low number, i myself am using a 3650 currently on a 17" can run mw2 maxed with no aa/asf, im guessing you run 1440x900, get a 4670 if you really wanna buy right away $70, but id advise you to wait and see what the 5670's numbers look like, should be around the same price and should whup the 4670 with less power.
