Gateway motherboard direct replacement

My C51GU01 motherboard is apparently fried. Computer turns on but won't post, won't beep, screen won't come up. I checked the MB, no lights. So I ordered the exact same MB. My question is after it's installed will I have to do something or will my Windows XP recognize the new MB and make the appropriate register changes? I've never changed a MB and am not a computer tech, so please make the answers as a novice would understand. Thanks!

if it is the some MB, Windows XP won't know the difference between old and new. Therefore, XP should not have to make any changes.
